How can real paranormal investigators counter misinformation spread by Paranormal TV shows?

Those shows are bad, but Ghost Hunters is just as bad. While proclaiming skepticism and a scientific approach they do just the opposite. In fact, EVERY ghost hunting show on TV is laughable from a scientific perspective. If you want to counter bad information on TV, it will be tough. First, you'll need some kind of media presence to get your message out. Secondly, you'll need to be rigorous about applying scientific methods to your ghost hunting. That means no proclaiming "orbs" as ghosts, no misuse of equipment (e.g., FLIR and proclaiming residual heat spots as ghosts), no pareidolia where you proclaim you hear messages in white noise recordings, no proclaiming EMF spikes as ghosts, etc. This might be boring so don't expect a lot of ghost enthusiasts to flock to your message.
