Is it easy to find a decent apartment in Brossard,QC under $1000? Can I survive there knowing only English?

I am considering to relocate to Brossard, QC for a job. Since it's so close to Montreal I am just wondering if what I've read about living in Montreal can be applied here (e.g. easy to find bilingual people, metropolitan lifestyle, expensive rent). Thank you.
