Had an hsg, on birth control pills, can i be put on metformin?

hi all, i was previously diagnosed w/ pcos. i had bloodwork done on my hormones, hsg- all fine. semen ysis for my husband- all fine! i am overweight, do you think they could put me on metformin to help w/ the weight control. i am not diabetic or have no sugar problems at this time. but what else can be next!? ive been on birthcontrol for about 2 months, to regulate a period- im very irregular and before my bcp it was induced by provera.
